The story Awakened (Book 2 in the Ariya Adams Trilogy) by Anna Applegate is a paranormal/romance book. It is the next book in a series and I loved reading it just as much as the first one. It starts out with Ariya still adjusting to a world that she had never know existed. Her attraction to her Protector, James, is stronger than ever. While these two are very close James still hesitates to take their relationship to the next level. Then a new threat appears and danger is once more a reality for Ariya and her friends. She is forced to make decisions that will affect those she cares for the most. Will she be able to keep her friends safe? Will Ariya be able to survive this new danger? I love the character of Ariya. She is a strong, independent woman. She does make decisions that frustrate those who are there to protect her. While she has been asked not to put herself in danger, when others may be hurt she always thinks of their safety, not her own. This story has Ariya experiencing fear, doubts and wondering what the future holds. Many of the characters in this story are ones that were introduced in the first book and there are also new ones. Some of them are helpful and some of them are evil and manipulative. This story has action, danger, magic, vampires, and romance. It is a page-turner that had me not wanting to put it down until I had read the final page. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens next. This story does include mature content and would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

Awakened Book 2 in the Ariya Adams Trilogy eBook Anna Applegate Reviews
I have enjoyed all the books so far in the Imdalind series and am waiting for the next book due out this year. ( soon I hope!) The only thing that could have made this better would have been if the author had made this into 1 book. It has been excellent reading and I cannot wair to see how it ends as there are many twists and turns to the plot.
Loved this addition to the series and I can’t wait to see how it ends!!! I love James and Ayria!! Plus Riley, Nick, and Caroline
Love this book.. I got so caught up in it that when the end came I thought NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... I have to wait for the next book... I will wait and hope it comes out soon..
I love the tension between Ariya and James but I need them to be together fighting all evil... Called his MOTHER. Agghhh..
Great book but get the first book if you have not read this series so you are up to date on everyone.

some of the YA Paranormal stories are so much alike that you feel like it's just a another chapter with different names. If I go for book 2 and still want to read book 3 then I feel like I'm getting my moneys worth. Also why are the main caricature always heroines? Don't men read any more? I recommend the Belgariad trilogy by David Eddings, or any of his trilogy. If you read J.R.R. Tolkien,Hobbits or the Lord of the rings trilogy(you should really start with the Hobbits)! To get back to Ms. Applegate I am still hungry for book 3. I always recommend that you read the book first their almost always better than the movies. Though a great job was done on Lord of the rings.
What a great follow up to Protected! Seriously, Anna Applegate did it again. Awakened has that formula of suspense, romance, comedy, and adventure that hooked me in Protected, but this time it was taken even further.
Throughout the book, I was on the edge of my seat, holding my breath, and often yelling at my . Yes, it was that good!
My heart broke for Ariya time and time again. However, seeing how much she grew and changed but without losing her core was incredibly touching and made me smile even when I had tears in my eyes.
The love between Ariya and James in this book is amazing. They are such a great couple and proved once and for all that love can overcome anything. I think that’s my favorite thing about Anna Applegate’s books. They show us that love (for friends, lovers, or yourself) will always conquer adversity.
Now, let’s talk about Aubrey. . . That woman makes me want to curse. I won’t, no worries, but man how I want to. I’m also not going to give spoilers, but I bet that after you’re done with this book you’ll agree with me.
Overall, Awakened is an amazing continuation to Ariya’s story, and I’m looking forward to its third installment. I highly recommend it!
I was lucky enough to read this amazing book before its release, and lucky is hardly a word to describe the honor it really was. The first book in this trilogy, Protected, completely engrossed me with its non-stop action, twists (especially that ending!), and the creativity of the story itself... But Awakened, oh gosh, this book had me flying through the pages, unable to put it down. I can't tell you how many times I contacted the author, sweating bullets, freaking out, and praising this story. Just when you think you know where this story is heading, you find you're wrong. And I'm a HUGE sucker for originality and imagination, and this book absolutely captivated me in that department. Kudos to Mrs. Applegate for diving deep into her creative side!
Ariya grows so much as a character throughout book two. It comes down to her needing to find that inner strength, when James and her friends' lives rely on it, and that makes her growth believable, commendable, and real. I really LOVED her character in this book.
And the budding romance that occurred in Protected is taken to a whole new level in Awakened. The sexual tension is undeniable, and I absolutely love that in any book. I'll admit that I'm the perve who devours books because I'm waiting for the characters to just get the inevitable out of the way. But I also don't like to be completely distracted from the story because of it, and found the balance between the increasing intensity of James' and Ariya's relationship, and the story itself very well done.
If you enjoyed the first book, you will LOVE the second! Amazing, amazing, amazing!!!! I don't like to give spoilers in reviews, but I promise this sequel will not disappoint.
